Gala Remembers 2018 was a community partnership project planned to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.
To create a brand identity that would work as an umbrella for the numerous partner organisations, engage with a diverse number of target stakeholders, would reflect the sombre nature of the event, and work on a broad mix of marketing communications activities, including a published book.
We attended the monthly meetings of the working group from the very early stages of planning right up to the post event review. This enabled us to get a true sense of each partner organisation, their culture and their own objectives. At the same time, never losing sight of the over-arching objectives.
We created three visual concepts for consideration by the group. A sub-group decided on one which allowed us to present a visual board, with example collateral items, including how the brand would look online, in situ in outdoor advertising, and, most importantly, as an events programme.
We also provided a toolkit, or additional support, to encourage all partners to adopt the brand for use on their own marketing collateral. Partners including the Royal British Legion were delighted to use the brand we developed.
Gala Remembers 2018 was a huge success, with all partners commenting on the impact of the brand in relation to its success. The local MSP gave a Parliamentary Motion for the programme in the Scottish Parliament.
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your contribution to making the Gala Remembers commemoration activities such a huge success. When taking on this project I had no idea how it would grow and involve so many different groups within the community.
Without someone able to co-ordinate the various groups, deal with the media, and take care of the marketing, this project would never have been the success it was.
I would have no hesitation in recommending your company to any group or business looking to promote themselves.” – Bill White, Chair of Gala Remembers 2018
