Background

Borders College is a further education institute based in the Scottish Borders. Providing a variety of courses for further education, commercial and community learning needs, the organisation has campuses throughout the region,

Purpose

As with most public sector organisations, Borders College is expected to deliver more with less. The constraints on the funding required the use of measurement of best practice as a means of ensuring all spend achieves the required return. This includes the marketing budget too. As a result, the Marketing and Communications Manager sought to audit the College website and social media channels to ensure the platforms and content both attracted and retained the broad spectrum of users.

Method

Using a variety of primary research techniques, including user experience testing, and secondary research, we were able to provide a clear and unbiased overview of the website experience and social media reach and engagement.

Impact

Our reports were used by the Marketing and Communications Manager to demonstrate the College was performing well with their website and social media content.

There were also areas to consider for the future development of the website and options to segment the offering for specific target markets with the social media channels used.
